The 33rd Annual Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals brought high-octane excitement, top-tier automotive craftsmanship, and standard unpredictable weather back to Texas Motor Speedway on October 2 & 3, 2026. As one of the most anticipated stops on the Goodguys circuit, this year’s event was packed with intense competition, finalizing crucial crown jewel titles for the season. Muscle Machine of the Year Finalists & Grand Winner The event marked the culmination of the Goodguys Muscle Machine of the Year search. Entering the weekend, four finalists were already locked in, leaving just one final slot open to complete the field of five contenders. That final spot was secured by the jaw-dropping Camaro convertible built by the crew at Blue Sky Performance out of New Jersey. Featuring top-notch fabrication and pro-touring styling, the Blue Sky convertible earned its well-deserved place alongside the best in the nation. Blending aggressive pro-touring performance with meticulous fit and finish, the Dutch Boys Firebird officially claimed the coveted Muscle Machine of the Year crown. America’s Most Bitchin & The Road-Warrior Champion The America’s Most Bitchin award honors five standout custom cars or trucks deemed the absolute coolest and most uniquely styled vehicles at the show. Hot rodders traveled from all corners of the country for a shot at the honor, but the overall spotlight belonged to Angie Johnson of Johnson’s Hot Rods out of Gadsden, Alabama. In true hot-rodding spirit, Angie didn't just trailer her build—in a fun twist that stole the show, she drove the car all the way from Alabama directly to Fort Worth for the event, proving that high-end show-stoppers can be true road warriors.(She even competed for Muscle Machine of the Year and did all those activities) Weathering the Weekend: Friday Sun vs. Saturday Rain The event was a tale of two very different days on the calendar: Friday: Conditions were near perfect for the Muscle Machine festivities. Under mild temperatures and overcast skies, participants tackled the full gauntlet of performance tests—a 100-mile reliability run, two high-intensity laps around the autocross course, and two drag strip passes down Pit Road. Saturday: Mother Nature threw a curveball with steady rain nearly all day. Despite the damp conditions, the show pressed on. The team managed to lock in the five "America’s Most Bitchin" finalists and successfully squeezed in all five photoshoot sessions between rain showers. Truck of the Year Finalists Locked In Along with the Muscle Machine and Bitchin awards, the Lone Star Nationals served as the stage to select the final three Truck of the Year finalists: 4x4 Finalist: The rugged Bronco built by Murray’s Rod & Kustoms. Truck Early Finalist: The classic pickup crafted by Smithey out of Houston, Texas.
